“Boys, these chocolates better not be from Wal-Mart! Things will get ugly.”
Hello my daaaaaahling Valentines *kisses*! It’s that time of year again. Are you ready to be bombarded by oodles of handsome suitors carrying all manner of jewels and expensive chocolates? I know I am LOL! Last year I was just inundated by rich handsome men trying to get a kiss. Oh, it was quite a trial fighting them off (after accepting my gifts of course), but this year I will be armed with some rose water scented pepper spray. Men just go crazy over me, ya know? A girl has to protect herself. What are your plans, the ones that don’t make my ears burn that is… no… actually you can tell me those too
? Are you going to make any special treats?
I was thrilled when Valerie, from A Canadian Foodie, asked me to join her in making coeur a la creme as part of More Than Burnt Toast’s “Invite a Blogger to Your Table.” Basically, it’s an initiative to team up with other bloggers and try something new, something that maybe you are afraid to try on your own. Sometimes its a bit easier when you have someone to pair up with. Cool idea no? Turns out though, that this was a super easy recipe. It looks impressive and sophisticated, but it is a no bake desert that just involves mixing a few ingredients and making a simple sauce. It really does make an awesome desert for Valentine’s Day or an anniversary.
Anyways, here are the rules of Invite a Blogger to Your Table:
1) Choose a dish to prepare and invite 1 blogger to create that dish with you. You can source your recipe from a cookbook, magazine, blog or any other source.
2) Decide upon a date that you can both mutually post your recipe.
3) Link back to More Than Burnt Toast http://morethanburnttoast.blogspot.com/ somewhere in your post.
4) Please feel free to use the Avatar/Badge above “Invite a Blogger to Your Table.
5) Once you have made your dish with your blogging friends and posted it or you can choose to stop or continue on and “invite another blogger to your table” to make something different.
6) Cut and paste these instructions into your post and contact a friend.
So now my dears, I need a friend to join me in one of MY cooking experiments. For a long time, I’ve been wanting to try my hand at making my own pasta. I bought a pasta maker and everything, but alas, it sits alone and unloved in my larder. Do any of you feel like having a go at pasta making with me?

Okay, don’t all come at me at once okay? Anyone interested, please email me … come on, you know you want to. It’ll be fun!!!
This year, my daaaaahlings, I am giving you all piece of my heart. I hope you will be my Valentines. Please leave your gift by the door on your way out.

Coeur a la Creme with Strawberry Rose Sauce
Based on a recipe from Epicurious.com
Serves 4
Ingredients:
- cheesecloth squares to fit 4 coeur a la creme moulds
- 8oz cream cheese at room temperature
- 1 cup sour cream
- 4 tablespoons of powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
- seeds from one vanilla bean
- pinch of salt
Rinse cheesecloth under water; squeeze until just damp. Line each of four 3- to 4-inch coeur à la crème molds with 1 square of cheesecloth. Using electric mixer, beat cream cheese, sour cream, 4 tablespoons powdered sugar, lemon juice, vanilla, and salt in large bowl until smooth, about 4 minutes. Press through fine strainer; divide among molds. Fold cheesecloth over. Place molds in shallow baking dish; cover with plastic wrap. Chill at least 4 hours and up to 1 day.
For the sauce:
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup sugar
- half pint of strawberries
- 1/2 cup of strawberry jam
- 2 tablespoons of rosewater
Bring sugar, strawberries and 2 tablespoons of water to a boil in a small sauce pan. Then bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 4 minutes. Pour the sauce into a food processor with rosewater and jam and pulse until smooth.

So pretty!!!
I’m still waiting for my suitors. Or just one: all I need is one

Your presentation looks so appealing…very luring indeed
I just coincidentally finished reading Valerie’s post and after having initially gotten excited about maybe one day making these…I was slightly disappointed towards the end when it appears she wasn’t too pleased with the overall taste. Just wondering how you felt about it. Did you omit your opinion from this post for a reason? Am I prodding too much?…Let me know. LOL.
Hugs and flavourful wishes,
Claudia
