I am jealous of all the really cool gourmet food trucks you guys have in America, especially the ones in NY. If only the food truck phenomenon would catch on in the UK! As I live in the deepest darkest wilderness (no, not really, but I feel like it sometimes), I probably wouldn’t have access to them anyway
. That being said, in some little towns, you will find treat stands that pop up on particular days of the week, around the local shopping centres. These aren’t gourmet by any means, but sometimes you don’t really want gourmet. Sometimes you just want something sweet and fun… something hot and covered in sugar… ya know? It just so happened that today, the Fun Food Bar was in town. It was there that I found something that makes very happy indeed: mini donuts!
Inside that little booth is a small donut contraption that churns out teeny weeny donuts. It is just the cutest thing. They make the donuts to order, so you get them piping hot. If there is one thing better than sweet carb goodness, it’s HOT sweet carby goodness. Oh, the sheer joy (I am easily amused)! I feel the heat emanating from the bag, and it almost feels like it’s alive… but not for long my pretties!
For only £2 you get 15 of these darlings in sweet little baggie. Let’s have a looksy, no?
You want one, don’t you? Well, today I’m in a rare mood to … share *gasp*!
Here, this one is for you… just one, don’t be greedy, the other 14 are mine
.
While I was feasting on these with a hot cup of tea, Mr P called me. With sugar speckled hands I answered the phone, but all I could say was, “nom nom nom nom…” Yeah, Mr P is used to that sort of thing.
“Bite me,” says the naughty donut. So, I did.
Wasn’t that fun?! I know how you love to watch me eat. When it comes to food, what’s your cheap and cheerful simple pleasure?
p.s. Yes, of course I finished the whole bag! They were itty bitty donuts… and they were mocking me. I had to show them who was boss.

Had to show them who was boss…adore you! Anything caramel is my sweet quilty pleasure…regardless of being cheap or expensive, I love caramel!
Okay I don’t want to be hated but I don’t like donuts. They are way too oily and sweet for my taste but I so excited about finding your blog!
These mini doughnuts look too good to pass up! Every year I go to a local festival just to have their mini pumpkin doughnuts…yes, they are that good! Mmmm..yummy!
This is something we don’t have in France… I would love that!!!
Your blog looks nice, I am going tio have a closer look at it! I have used the picture you have at the top for one of my posts (24th december)
Regards
How adorable! We don’t have many food trucks here, and they certainly don’t serve cute mini-doughnuts.
In East Hampton, New York, there is a wonderful little shop that makes cake donuts that are the most delicious. I think the secret is that the sweetness comes from apples. If you order three, for example, they will put hot ones in a paper bag, sprinkle in powdered sugar or cinnamon & brown sugar, and shake the bag to cover!
Thanks for the donut!! They look gorgeous
I’m not a huge fan of donuts but I could definitely eat a whole bag of these!
The only thing better than carbs is fried carbs. Bring on the donuts!
Those are such cute donuts! I would of wolfed these babies down too. This reminds me that I really need to take advantage of the food trucks in NYC. It seems like the selection gets better and better.
I remember the day my kids and I went to the new Krispie Kreme shop in Dallas; I took one bite of that sugary thing and my horrified, grimacing face was shot on camera by my son; not that I dont like sweets, I adore chocolate and cake and cookies; just the sweet sweet sweet donut is not my thing. Give me a good slice of panettone instead.
I want to go to something called the Fun Food Bar…which mini donuts totally qualify.
While I can’t imagine anything more exciting than living in the UK, I have to admit having easy access to those “treat wagons” at the many flea markets around here makes it a little easier. Yes, hot mini donuts are the best. And what’s a scorched tongue when they go down so easily?!! Love your blog – great recipes. Will be a joy to follow you….
Little cinnamon donuts are simply my favourite! Especially on a cold day with a hot forty of sorts!! Although personally I can’t go past those giant pretzels…ready goodness will get me everytime!!
I love those mini-doughnuts, and also doughnut holes too, anything sweet really, I’m a cheap date ^_^
