My Birthday Weekend at the Connaught

It has officially become our tradition, that whenever Mr P and I celebrate our birthdays, we spend it at an uber fab hotel, somewhere ultra luxe and rediculously expensive. My birthday this year was no exception. Mr P booked us in at the Connaught. Not only was I super excited to be staying at the famed 5 star hotel, but I was going to be staying in a suite no less, the Eagle’s Lodge Suite, to be exact. It was the perfect loft to survey my kingdom and royal subjects beneath me (… wow, I am really getting a monstrously big head these days, aren’t I?). Originally we were supposed to stay in one of the deluxe bedrooms. Upon check in, however, the concerge said, “Oh, but Mr P, we do have a lovely suite that just became available, would you like to upgrade for an additional fee?” Oh, my dears, if  you read my blog regularly, you know that dangling luxury carrots in front of Mr P is like taking candy from an inebriated  baby.  Mr P did not hesitate in his acceptance, of course. Damn, this was going to be some bill I thought to myself. This better be good.

Yes, it WAS good. Very good indeed. I was blown away from the moment we set foot into our little set of rooms. The suite was designed by Guy Oliver to resemble the inside of a 1930’s yacht. This is evident by the little “port holes” in the bathroom, the bath tub which is made to look like an Italian liner, and the nautical themed artwork throughout the rooms.

Sitting room, Eagle's Lodge Suite, Connaught HotelHere is the lovely sitting room. From here you could watch TV, indulge in a cup of coffee, or open the doors to the terrace and enjoy the most pleasant breeze in the world– at least, it felt that way to me. I was feeling ever so special and self important sitting there (even more than I normally do). And you should have seen Mr P. The look of contentment on his face was palpable. It is so rare that I see him so happy like that. He was in his element.

Nautical inspired bathroom at the Connaught HotelCheck out the TV in the bathroom! I watched Jay Leno in there. Gosh, does life get any better???

The Eagle’s Lodge is on the top floor, so that means the views are pretty awesome. From our private wrap around  terrace we had  270° views of London. We were able to see the London Eye (ferris wheel) and what Londoner’s refer to as the “erotic gherkin.” During our stay, we had amazing weather, so Mr P and I spent quite a bit of time out there.

Oh, and did I tell you that we had our own butler at our beck and call? No, don’t worry, he wasn’t harmed by me and my incessant demands. I reserve that for Mr P ;) .

Chocolate and raspberry birthday cake

It was my best birthday evaaaaaaaa. I totally felt like a spoiled princess (yeah, I know what you are thinking LOL). Will Mr P ever be able to top this one? Well, there is the £8,000 a night suite

*Birthday kisses and lots of love  from the terrace at the Connaught to all my dear readers*

p.s. Of course, I also had to experience the Connaught’s afternoon tea. Visit me next time when I share all the gorgeous details.
