Well my dears, as promised, here are my picks for Fall 2010. They were slim pickings, if you ask me. Sometimes I think that designers are so interested in “provoking” that they forget that these clothes are going to be worn by real women. Real women don’t want to wear Chewbacca gear, even if it is Chanel (see previous post). They want to look pretty. They wan’t to inspire their friends to jealousy. I can tell you this, no woman is going to be jealous of a girl wearing a big furry moustache (a la Vivienne Westwood and Betsy Johnson) even if the outfit is a total stunner. I think all of these concept clothes may have something to do with the fact that nobody is buying couture anymore. Most fashion houses make the big money on perfumes and accessories.
Okay, now that I’ve said my piece, lets get to the clothes…
First let’s start with Dolce & Gabbana who have totally gone back to their roots by bringing back the looks which they have come to be associated with. Yeah, they are bringing sexy back
. Have you seen those adds they’re running with Madonna? To die, daaaahlings.
These are some really flowy and romantic dresses by Christian Dior. Now admittedly, I’m not going to run out and buy a see-through dress… well, not with the current condition of my thighs. Yes, Moi is indeed in need of some serious dieting at the moment. But if I was a tall and stunning supermodel, hell yeah. I would totally wear this (especially the first one). I wouldn’t care if you could see my knickers, cause you’d all be totally jealous… and I can deal with that. For you see, there is no sweeter perfume to a woman than when her friends are green with envy
.
Here we have some gorgeous gowns by Oscar de la Renta who always knows how to dress a woman. These dresses are what I consider “Hollywood glamour.” This is what women really covet, because women look good in these. So good that a horrible moustache or unibrow might even be eclipsed by the beauty of the ensemble. I for one, would look killer in any of these dresses
… “Oh Mr. P… can I borrow your credit card darlingkins?”
Finally we have some pieces from my favourite collection of the season, which is by Alexander McQueen. I think they are absolute beauties. The second dress here was my favourite piece amongst all of the designers for Fall 2010. I just adore adore it. I wonder if I could wear when I go food shopping at Tesco, because this is a dress that deserves to be seen!
What are your thoughts? Do you agree with my picks? Did you have anything that you particularly liked? I love talking fashion.
