Alexander McQueen: A Royal Farewell

I wasn’t aware that Alexander McQueen, a truly awesome British designer, had died until I read it on Dumbwit Tellher’s site a few days ago. His passing has compelled me to share some highlights of my favorite McQueen collection, which was from Fall 2008. As far as I am concerned, this collection refelects the stuff that little girls’ (and many big girls’) dreams are made of. To me, it is a collection that speaks about fairy tales and fantasies of being a princess. It is the kind of thing that creates young housewives-in-training with two little pony tails on each side of their head into mega couture wearing terrors with ornate headdresses and delusions of grandeur (hey, why are you looking at me daaaaaaaaaaaahling?).

Although Mr McQueen created what I consider to be many beautiful works of art, this is the collection that will always spring to my mind when I think of him. I bow my bejewled coiffure and raise my Diet Coke to you, Mr McQueen daaaaaahling. RIP.

I read the news here early last week…I could just say:God envies the talent.

THIS post was fabulous HH. Indeed his works were art, as were all of these beauties in this collection. Truly blows me away his creative abilities. Now where I know where I went wrong in life for my 'couture wearing terror in the making training', I never had pigtails. Damn…

Hope your week is full of all things good thus far my dear xoxo deb
(thank you for the shout out, your the bestest xx)

That comment from Edward Taylor… was actually from me. Wish he wouldn't always stay logged into his google account!

I just adore his work and so sad that such a brilliant and creative man is gone!

I'm picturing you bowing your bejewled coiffure and raising your Diet Coke…It's a stunning sight indeed!

    Love and hugs,
    Karyn

McQueen certainly created some fantastic pieces. it's a shame he's gone too soon. He had so much more to give.

HH such a lovely tribute to a master designer. When I read the news I was so saddened to learn yet another great talent will no longer be creating beauty in the World. The collection you featured is indeed divine and I can picture you wearing each and every piece beautifully.

My daughter called me with the news right after it happened…she adores his clothes. He was an enormous talent and even though a lot of his things were somewhat outré, he did make some lovely pieces. She is lucky enough to have some…and where did she buy them? London, years ago.

What lovely pieces and such wonderful attention to detail!

    P.S. I was also a pigtail wearing princess:D

This chick's absolutely blown off the haywagon by the beautiful beading on the garments. My hat is off to anyone who can design with that kind of artsy detail I hand beaded my weddin' dress. It took forever!

God bless and have a glorious day!!!

So sad. That peacock dress is absolutely stunning. The brightest stars seem to burn out the fastest.
