Sometimes when I look at Mr P I feel a little sad. His eyes are often red, and he looks so tired. He works so hard. On one hand I know I am incredibly fortunate to be married to someone like him who is willing to work like he does to provide for us. On the other hand, I don’t see him that much, and sometimes I am afraid that he is really running himself into the ground
. This is why, when Hubby wanted to do something a bit extravagant for his birthday, I absolutely could not have said no. What did we do? We spent the weekend at Claridges in London!
Staying at Claridges was the most awesome experience. Never in my life would I have dreamed of staying somewhere that special (despite my delusions of grandeur). It has really made me realise how much my life has changed. I mean, look at me, HH, staying in a hotel where soooooooooo many uber famous A-listers have stayed. Stars, socialites and crowned heads of Europe, and now MOI!!! But not only did Mr P and I have the pleasure of staying at this sumptuous five star art deco masterpiece, but we stayed in a suite! The Mayfair Suite. Oh my God you guys, it really was crazy… crazy good! Moi felt like a princess. Here are some pictures.
Here is the beautiful bedroom we stayed in. That bed felt like I was sleeping in a marshmallow. The closet space was about five times as big as what I have at home. I guess these are for ladies who travel with huge trunks of Vuitton, doggie carrier bag included, no? (Who cleans out those doggie carrier bags? That thought grosses me out.)

The bathroom was splendid. I wish my bathroom at home was that big. There was lots of black marble, a deep sunken tub, and a very powerful shower. What was really fabulous was that there were so many period features though. You could really immerse yourself into the elegance of the 1920’s.
Check this out. This was in the shower stall. Because you never know when you need to summon a maid or a valet daaaaaaahling. Is it so they can dry you off and blow dry your hair afterwards? I don’t know. I was afraid to pull them. What if someone really did show up while I was still showering LOL!
…and likewise, these were by the bedside…

If you are wondering what kind of toiletries they give you (cause that’s something I always want to know
), they are from Asprey, the British jeweller and luxury goods company.
As we were in a suite, attached to our room was a lovely sitting room, with the original art deco fireplace. Those sofas are super comfy by the way.
While Mr P and I were wallowing in splendour, there happened to be a special Christmas tree designed especially for Claridges by my favourite designer of all time: John Galliano, so of course, I had to share this with you. I can’t really see how this is a Christmas tree, in all honesty, but to each their own. It was actually a giant papier-mâche sculpture (20 feet to be exact). So, just out of curiosity, where are you supposed to put the presents?
What goes on in the head of a genius?

The tree dominated the lobby, and made for quite a spectacle, casting spooky but beautiful shadows.
Detail of a panther ready to pounce on anyone trying to steal your expensive presents!
Polly want a cracker?
Answer: Only if it has caviar on it daaaaaahling!
