The theory behind why today’s macaroons should work is based on the baking paper I bought. I am feeling petty sure that the reason my macaroons couldn’t be removed from the paper is because I was using the cheap store brand. So, I visited Lakeland (online) and I bought their special baking parchment. Someone left a comment on their website saying that it worked great for meringues. That kind of convinced me. It was kind of expensive for baking paper (especially when you add the cost of shipping), but if you haven’t noticed, I am pretty determined to master the macaroon. Using the same exact method, and the same technique, the plan is to recreate attempt two, but on this better paper. What happens??? Let’s see …
Check out that perfect bottom!

If only I could say the same about my own bottom!!!
This time I got about 90% of the macaroons off the paper. Woo hoo! So having the right paper definitely DOES have something to do with it. Still, I’m not 100% happy with these. I think they got slightly overcooked (my mom called while the macaroons were baking and I got a bit distracted), and they weren’t as smooth looking as attempt number 2 (I skimped on a bit of sifting this time, maybe thats why). So, here’s the plan. I don’t want to bore you guys with a million attempts. I’m just going to keep trying and when I finally get it totally right, I will post them (filling included). I will let you know how many tries it takes me.
I am slightly jealous of people who make the perfect macaroons on their first attempt, but hey, what can I do? At least you guys know I’m being honest with you
.
Okay dear readers, hold on to your seats because I have some startling news! Look what I found on the Fashion Time Magazine website:
Two of the most famous names in Paris have come together to create a delicious item. Mr Louboutin, the prince of the red soles (credentials not required) and the King of French macarons, Maison Ladurée have stylishly combined to bring forth a limited edition of gift boxes. Boxes of 6 to 10 macarons will be wrapped between designs of shoes, boots and scarpins.
The duo Christian Louboutin and the chef pâtissier Philippe Andrieu have invented a flavor inspired by the Orient, figs and dates, ‘Un parfum d’Orient’, giving us that exotic taste of being on holiday.
Do check back daaahlings, because I hope to feature them here on my blog. I will give you all the gossip and let you know if they are really worth all the hype. Apparently they will be available from September 11. In all honesty, I do think that the original Lauduree boxes are much more elegant and beautiful, but have a gander at the macaroons themselves. Look at the red macaroon bottom (mimicking the signature Louboutin sole). I think its positively inspired!
