Housewife in a Hurry: Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Most things you can buy in America, you can pretty much find here in the UK too (although sometimes its more expensive). But you know what I haven’t seen? Really good pretzels. The other day I was shopping with Mr P in Sainsbury’s and I came across some somewhat anemic “jumbo” pretzels. A thought occurred to me. Do you know which ingredient can turn something okay into something awesome???? Chocolate!

Its been a while since I did a Housewife in a Hurry post, but thats nothing new ;) . Idleness is in my blood I think. If you want to make a cute little snack with minimum effort, this is one for you. These chocolate covered pretzels are so easy, anybody can do it, even kids (or dumb bunny adults)! This would have been even more fab if I was able to find something like big pretzel rods, or the really nice fat Snyder’s pretzels that I love so much. Alas, this will have to do.

You only need is 3 ingredients:
Pretzels (any shape or size)
Chocolate (dark, milk or white)
Sprinkles

Using a double broiler method (I just place a large bowl onto a pot of simmering water), melt chocolate. Dip pretzels in melted chocolate, and do your best to shake of any excess. Place pretzels onto waxed paper. While the pretzels are still wet, embellish them with sprinkles. Allow to cool (but do not refrigerate, this will prevent the finished pretzels from looking shiny rather than waxy).

Voila, something fun and yummy. I don’t know about you, but I think the combination of sweet and salty really does something.

Note: Instead of sprinkles, you could use crunched up nuts or maybe coconut, or you could even decorate it by spooning over some melted colored chocolates. These chocolate covered pretzels can be as simple or as fancy as you like. Maybe try using super high quality chocolate (so long as you don’t have to share *wink*). The possibilities are endless. Go on, knock yourself out LOL!
