Joy of Reading Award

I love books. I don’t like to collect too many things because, my opinion is that even if you have the best stuff, if you have too much of it, your house begins to look a bit junky. It may surprise my readers that Heavenly Housewife is actually quite the minimalist. My design philosophy is few but best. Books, however, are something that I can’t resist. As you might have guessed, most of my books are about food, and pretty much all of them have beautiful pictures. I love looking at pictures for inspiration. Also, being that I have the attention span of a peanut, picture books suit me very well indeed.

Another thing I love about books is book stores! Oh, how I love to waste time in the book shops! I could spend forever. I think I must be kind of annoying to the people who work there though, because I tend to look at book after book after book. I leave stacks of books on the table that some poor little pleb needs to re-shelve. Ah, yes, its good fun.

Well what do books have to do with anything? Well I recently got tagged by the darling Karyn at French Charming. I got something called the Joy of Reading award. Here are the rules of this one:

1. Collect the book that you have most handy
2. Turn to page 161
3. Find the 5th complete sentence
4. Site the sentence on your blog
5. Pass it on to 5 other bloggers

The following is a sentence taken out of “Eat London.” Its a book all about cool restaurants and food places in London. The book has great pictures as well as some recipes from famous London restaurants. If you are a foodie with plans to visit London (or if you live in London), I highly recommend this book. It is a little treasure. So here’s the 5th complete sentence on page 161:

“When I visited recently three successive customers each requested something unusual or difficult.”

Hmmm… interesting. I can see nothing relating to myself in this sentence!

You know what would have been so funny? What if I had some really trashy romance novel and sentence five was horribly naughty? I do enjoy the occasional trashy romance you know! You guys are lucky your little eye balls aren’t burning from one of those LOL!

Oh god, my eyes! I find the cover of these books so embarrassing. I would never be able to buy one that looked like this!… though thats not to say I wouldn’t want to read it ;) .

I would like to pass this book award to:

1. Jenn from Bread + Butter
2. Diva from Beach Eats
4. Scate, from Scate Bakes
5. Jamie from Life’s a Feast

I have been most honored in the past couple of weeks to be the recipient of several awards. I got the Lemonade Stand Award from the uber glam Lola and her personal assistant, the harried Nora from the hilarious The Johnson Diaries: Life on the Edge. I also recieved one from the marvelous Moonspinner at Dustjacket Attic, and one from the very talented writer, Jamie, of Life’s a Feast (who happens to be a homegirl!). I haven’t forgotten about you my darlings. Its just that heavy is the head that wears my tiara.
