La Boqueria Market, Barcelona

On famed Las Ramblas has to be one of the best markets ever: La Boqueria. Talk about a feast for the eyes! The colours in there are amazing. This market, with an over 300 year history, is composed of beautifully displayed fruits and veggies of every type, breads, seafood, eggs, meat, nuts, candies, and even tapas bars. And if you want to talk about freshness, the seafood here was still moving! Its a wonderful place to pick up some breakfast or lunch, and Hubby and I went there several times during our 5 day break. Here is one of those times where a picture is worth a thousand words, and acutaully, we probably took about a thousand pictures. Here is a selection of some of our best photos.

Market entrance:

Fresh and fruity drinks were aplenty (and cheap!).

Eggs of all shapes sizes and colours:

Glace fruit: you don’t really see these things around too much!

Stacks upon stacks of fresh fruit:

Delicious crusty breads:

A super simple but delicious sandwich from La Boqueria Market which I had twice: crusty baguette rubbed with garlic and tomato with a local cheese.

More fruits and yummy juices:

Exotic ocean creatures:

Okay, just checking to see if you are paying attention lol! Here’s the real picture. I have never seen razor clams in person before this:

And, of course, lots of hustle and bustle!
