This is a pizza with a difference. Not your average cheese and tomato. I have never made pizza dough from scratch though its on my list of things I want to try. I do know, however, that making your own dough can be a messy job. If there is one chore I hate its cleaning. When I cook, I always consider the dreaded clean up factor. Hubby is a real neatnick, so I dare not leave a messy kitchen. Ah, the cleanup… yeah, thats the part they never show you on TV. Does Nigella have to clean up after herself I wonder? I kind of doubt it.
Housewife in a Hurry: Smoked Salmon and Creme Fraiche Pizza
by Heavenly Housewife on 04. May, 2009 in Housewife in a Hurry, Pizza
I have decided to do a segment called “Housewife in a Hurry”, which I intend to post once in a while, for especially easy to put together dishes. No matter how much I love food, there are times where either I might be busy, or in a hurry, or just not feeling like cooking *gasp*. These will be foods with very little fuss and/or mess involved and not too many ingredients.
You only need a few ingredients to create this indulgent pizza:
Pre-made pizza base (in America, Boboli is great, in the UK I use the pre-made Napolina ones. Alternatively, you can use a big round and very flat pita or flatbread.)
60 grams of creme fraiche
50 grams of your favorite smoked salmon
about 1 tablespoon of chopped fresh dill
Freshly cracked black pepper
Take your pizza base (or pitta/flat-bread) and put it in the oven and bake until nice and crispy. Next let it cool. You can not put creme fraiche on anything hot, it will melt like butter, and you will be left with a big yucky mess. Let it cool to just slightly warm. Spread the creme fraiche around the base (leaving a small border around the outside). Sprinkle with dill. Artfully place your smoked salmon–hey, even if its only for you, it should look good right? Finally sprinkle with freshly cracked black pepper.
