Housewife in a Hurry: Cinnamon and Chocolate Mousse

Technically, this desert isn’t that “in a hurry” because it has to set in the refrigerator for about 4 hours. Still, I am listing it under this category because it is quick to prepare, surprisingly easy, and it only has three ingredients. Not bad for a super decadent desert is it? Something like this would be ideal if you know that you are having the some guests over. You can easily make these a day ahead and take them out just before serving. After all, you don’t want to look all frazzled when you have company. Spending all of your time in the kitchen while trying to entertain rarely turns out a success and usually ends up with you needing to recover the entire next day… I know this for a fact :P . It can also end up a little expensive for Hubby, as retail therapy may be required to alleviate physical and emotional traumas. So actually, this is not just a super easy and delicious desert, its recession friendly as well!

Ingredients:
300mL/ 1 1/4 cup of whipping cream
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
115g/40z dark chocolate

Serves 4

Combine 1/4c of cream with the cinnamon in a small sauce pan. When it just starts to boil, take the pan off the heat source, add the chocolate, and whisk until you have a nice thick and shiny chocolate mixture.
In a separate bowl, pour the rest of the whipping cream. With an electric hand mixer, beat until the cream forms soft peaks.
Once your chocolate is lukewarm, with a metal spoon fold in about a quarter of the whipped cream. Then add another quarter, and another until you have incorporated all of the ingredients. Now, decant into cups/ramekins/glasses, and let the deserts set in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours.

I ended up submitting this recipe to the NTTC (No Time To Cook) May 2009 Chocolate Challenge, lets see how it goes! Will the Heavenly Housewife have a new jewel in her tiara? Stay tuned darlings!
