I hate having to watch my calories all the time, but like it or not I have come to conclusion that this is part and parcel of being a girl. I don’t let that stop me from indulging though, because a girly who doesn’t enjoy the pleasures that good food has to offer is a cranky creature indeed, don’t you think?
Cuckoo for Cocoa from Rococo
by Heavenly Housewife on 12. May, 2009 in Chocolate
I do love my sweets, chocolates being a firm favorite. But I have decided something. I don’t want to waste my precious calories on junky chocolates (alright, yes, there are plenty of these “junky chocolates” sitting in my larder–but I have been passing them up lately). I want to use my calories for things that I truly love. This belly of mine has become valuable real estate my dears.
I am one of those rare foodies who doesn’t understand the fuss about dark chocolates *gasp*! I know all about how high percentages of cocoa are supposed to make for gourmet eating, but truth be told I am a milk chocolate girl, 100%! I write this with complete honesty when I say that my absolute favorite milk chocolate in the world is made by Rococo Chocolates. They do so many excellent flavors, the ones you might expect (such as plain, and with almonds), to the unusual (like sea salt, rose and lavender). These artisinal bars of goodness are absolute gems. My favorite is the cinnamon. I love anything cinnamon (as I am sure you will notice as I fill my blog with my favorite recipies). The milk chocolate base is pure creamy goodness, and the presence of the cinnamon is felt very strongly, which I really appreciate. It also happens to smell absolutely divine! I also recently had the opportunity to sample the sea salt chocolate bar. This is not a flavour I would usually go for. I tend to play things a bit safe, but hey, this is a food blog right, so I stepped out of my comfort zone for a bit, and I’m so glad I did!It was surely unlike any chocolate I have ever tasted before, in a good way. It is quite a startling combination. Here, the creamy milky chocolate is dotted with crystals of spikey salt. It was definitely an eye opener. Nevertheless, the cinnamon milk chocolate bar remains my favourite.
Aside from their chocolate bars, Rococo Chocolates offers so many delectable confections (did I ever mention that “confection” is my favourite word in the English language?). Their chocolates would make fantastic gifts… my birthday is next month, so contact me for my address *wink*. Please, check them out, you won’t regret it (even if your thighs do).
So… what’s your favourite chocolate? I would love to know!
