Food Peeve: Ladies Who Don't Really Lunch

Do you ever think it stinks going out to eat with other women?
I am thinking of someone in particular now. For the sake of this blog, I am going to call her Skeletor. She's actually a great girl, but I really hate going out to eat with her. Let me give you an example. She will make it a point to order large fries (chips). She will only pick at them and leave over half, same with dinner. Skeletor is a real talker. She can talk for England. She tells me all about her man troubles. Blah, blah, blah. Am I really supposed to be listening when there is something much more interesting then her sitting right on my plate?
Do people ever make you feel ashamed of eating by just picking at their own food? Is it such a bad thing for a girl to want to eat? Sometimes I feel like being female and loving food creates the ultimate paradox. Either you look good and are hungry all the time, or you eat what you want and you become a big piglet who can't fit into any cool clothes, or you try to be somewhere in the middle but end up spending hours every week like a hamster on a treadmill.
Ok, time for desert. Skeletor says, "Oh, I am so full, I couldn't eat another bite." She says this after I have just eaten a troughs worth of food. You're damn right I want some freakin cake(s). I have the urge take a big piece of trout from a neighboring table and just smack her with it.
Does this ever happen to you? This hamster wants to know.

Katie, I am the biggest piglet I know, and i can NEVER pass up desert :). Emily, oops i pressed the wrong button and accidentally deleted your comment, what a dumb bunny i can be. Like you, my favorite eating partner is my significant other (Hubby dearest), he never judges me, even when i eat his food :) thats what I call love!
"I'll get you next time, He-Man!!!"

LOL! I used to have friend nicknamed Skeletor but she wasn't a bad eater, she just weighed about 98 lbs (a bit of a dingbat, too).
Not finishing your fries/chips is a crime against food. I am appalled. My hubby automatically hands me any fries he can't finish to avoid persecution (yes, I am the champion eater between the two of us)
Don't you ever feel bad about stuffing your face - life's too short. Plus, men love curves!
ps. how cute is that hamster?
I think you need a new lunch date! Personally, I prefer to dine with those who love to eat as much as I do. And, if I find myself in the company of a Skeletor ... I'm going to chow regardless and not feel a minute's worth of guilt. I'm never going to be a skinny b*tch and that's OK with me. I'm all about the joy and a nice meal is an excellent source of joy. Eat up!
All you foodie girls are my Kindred spirits :D love you all. Ice creams all around for those woman enough to eat them!!!
Love this post. The boy and I will now only dine out with other people who are 'eaters'; those people who can manage starter, main course and desert, with room for petit fours... and chips on the way home! Hate being made to feel bad for tucking in and eating the lot, if I want. Grrrr
You deleted me? Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Only kidding. My boy is my dream dining partner too. Whatever I want, however I want it and in whatever quantities, he never judges!
I hate girls like that :) The ones who are always saying "wow, I'm so full." I try to keep friends around who love food as much as I do :)
Let's just say I'm a Hamster and proud. ;) you wouldn't catch me going out for a girly meal and eating boring salad. Bring on the cakes!
I loved this post. I can relate so well, as I have a friend like this too. I used to hate eating with her, it made feel like such a glutton, but I quickly learned a solution to my dilemma... I would eat before going out with her. Then as we shared our meal I would just order a salad and pick even slower than she was because I wasn't hungry at all. Funny thing was that it made me feel pretty good about myself. It was kinda like I felt I was demonstrating all sorts of self-control, even if it was all smoke and mirrors.
I have just spied apon your blog via UKFBA...and all I can say is awesome, this post made me spit my water over my desk whilst reading/laughing at lunch...your writing is great! Thanks.Rachel
Funny! I know exactly what you mean. I feel that way sometimes as well. I polish off my plate while a few of them are doggy-baggin'! I love my food! My waistline is showing it these days too after this long winter!
