Bounty in a Box

I was really happy when I was asked if I would try a fruit and veggie box from Abel & Cole. I have seen these boxes mentioned on shows like “Market Kitchen” many times, and even my husband’s cousin gets her fruits and veg from Abel & Cole. But not me. I kind of had a stereotype of what kind of person gets organic veg delivered: granola eating, yoga loving vegetarian hippies (hmm, not one to pass judgement are you Heavenly Housewife?). Basically its the type of person who is my complete opposite, lets call that person the anti-housewife. Well, while I know absolutely nothing about saluting the sun and other such malarchy (oh, I am horrid, I know), I do know about good food, and I know what I like.
Today didn’t start out all that well for me. I got to the gym and realized that I hadn’t updated my Iphone with new tv shows and music and stuff. Without it, my gym session is just beyond torture. So actually, I walked home… in the rain. I was feeling a little miserable. God, when is my Rocky Mode going to start already? I have a bathing suit I need to fit in to for goodness sakes! And guess what? There on my doorstep was a lovely box of goodies. I was totally cheered up. The fruit and vegetables were really beautiful. It was the kind of selection I would have picked out myself if I were in the supermarket. Everything looked incredibly fresh, and vibrant in color (which is very important because those bright colored fruits and veg are the ones with the most nutrients). Of note, the lettuce was very full and beautiful, definitely better than what I get at Tesco, and the pineapple was especially adorable.
Now that I have all these delicious and healthy ingredients, I have no excuses. I’m going to reload my Iphone and head back to the gym this afternoon. Then I am going to eat some of my goodies. Bring it on Mr. Balboa.
Tune in later when I try to do these ingredients some justice.
